Anyone been to Bunn Leisure

Hi All,

Recently went to Bunn Leisure on a Sun deal, we were very excited about it due to all the glowing reviews but were left a tad dissapointed by out stay.

Bits of it were bordering on brilliant but other aspects were a bit cr8ppy. Maybe it was just us? Maybe out expectations were too high?

Anyone had any experience of staying there?

Baz

    Hi,

Yes, it was the Selsey one.

We were comparing it to Haven, where we'd been numerous times before, and due to the reviews expected everything to be better. As it turns out some things were better and some worse.

First off, the check in staff were grumpy. None of them smiled and they all appeared like it was a chore to serve us.

Our caravan was delayed and when we finally received the keys we got to the 'van only to find it was still being cleaned. The cleaner said that he only got allocated 30 minutes to clean each unit, which clearly isn't enough. That said, out 'van was clean but it was a 2010 model so hadn't had enough time to get too dirty...

Later on, our 'van was invaded by ants and the Bunn staff seemed completely dis-interested in getting them removed. I assume they are still there to this day? (The ants, not sure about the staff...)

We were on the main resort near the beach. A free bus service runs between all the camp centres meaning it's easy to get round if you want a drink or three...bus driver was very cheerful, friendly and polite. An example to other Bunn staff!

At one point a Bunn Leisure marked van drove past and the driver made "w*nker" hand gestures at another Bunn employee out of the window. This was outside the front of the main resort building in full view of lots of children. Certainly not appropriate!

The main entertainment block was 'grubby', all the smoked glass and mirrors feels very "80's" and it was all covered with fingerprints etc.

The restaurants were a tad overpriced but they do a £2.99 breakfast which is excellent value for money!! They also do a value Sunday roast but I didn't get to try that.

The main Embassy club lacked any soul; it was like sitting in an underground car park which happened to serve drinks. That said, they served real ale which was good and whilst the drinks were a tad overpriced (~£3 a pint) it wasn't outrageous.

The kids entertainment was EXCELLENT though and far better than Haven. The kids entertainment runs in the main club until about 8pm when the more adult stuff takes over. The kids entertainment then moves to the kids club, a series of rooms off the main club area. This area includes toilets for the kids and is fully staffed. It's safe, they don't allow cameras or glass glasses. People were happy to leave their kids there while they went off to do other things; we stayed though.

The kids entertainment runs on to about 11pm and includes things such as magicians, competitions, games, discos etc...etc. The staff looking after the kids couldn't be faulted either. All seemed jolly enough and had real empathy with the children.

They also had a free small bouncy castle in the evenings plus a large pay one.

Evening entertainment was OK, nothing special while we were there but they do have some big name acts booked for later in the season which should be great. The "Team Stars" are fantastic, especially with the kids!

Apart from that, the on site convenience stores seem reasonably priced. They certainly aren't a rip off and some things were on special offer and were a bargain!

Would we recommend Bunn Leisure? Would we go there again? The answer is "Yes", most certainly, on the basis of the excellent kids entertainment.

Our grumbles are relatively minor, just that there were a few of these minor grumbles in the space of a weekend which add up to a bigger grumble!

We went to Bunn Leisure, Selsey in the summer of 2007. Yes I think we would go there again.
Yes we had a problem at check in as well. We had booked one of the higher grade caravans, which gave us a 2-00pm check in. On arrival at 2-45pm, we were told our caravan was not ready. we were shown on the map where it was on site, so we found it and waited outside, looking through the windows, the caravan looked clean and saw the linen ready on the sofa. We gave it 1/2 hour then went back to reception, only to be told that we could not checkin until 4-00pm. When we quoted what was said in there brochure, they handed over the keys.
So after 3 years, they are still lacking on Customer Service.
We enjoyed the Pool complex, no fancy flumes, but a lazy river, which is a circuit in the pool where you get pushed round by the water. Also the use of the steam room and sauna.
We used the bus service, even though we also were on the main West Sands site.
The entertainment complex looked ok when we were there, we saw Bill Hurd's Rubettes on evening. Drinks and meals are always expensive at these places.
The beach was nothing to write home about.
On the whole we liked our week at the park.
