london theatre tickets august

Options
hi

we're going to watch a show in london on the 14th august, probably either Oliver or Billy Elliott. Do you think I would need to buy the tickets now, or should I wait a while in the hope that I can get a reduction in price? 5 of us are going and we want to sit near the front, so it's quite expensive! Seeing as it's a Saturday night and the school holidays, we didnt want to leave it and be disappointed that there were no tickets left - could this happen? And if so, when do you think I should book by at the latest to make sure we get in? Thanks.

    Hi,

Cheaper tickets and offers during school holidays are generally not available so you would be better to book in advance to avoid disappointment! Plus Saturday is the most expensive and busiest night so discounts not really an option

However, there are options which are incredibly risky in getting the tickets you may desire...

Both shows are currently available at the TKTS booth in Leicester Square, London. It opens 10.00am - it would depend on you getting there and buying tickets when it opens and hoping that the show is not sold out! you also don't get to choose where you sit, seats are sold from front of theatre to the back!

Billy Elliot currently has a saving of £20.50 for full price tickets. Oliver has a saving of £28.25.

Depending how long you are in London - tickets can be bought up to a week in advance with savings, but you have to visit the booth and it all depends on available tickets..!

Billy Elliot have day seats in the Dress Circle for £19.50 during the week and £27.50 on Fri and Sat. These tickets are only available when the Box Office opens at 10.30am and are dependent on performances not being sold out!

See Tickets do a family ticket for Billy but that's only available Mon-Fri. 2 adults 2 under 16's saving up to £100!

If you don't mind cheaper seats - check out a website called theatremonkey it is an excellent source of information with readers reviews of seating at all levels of the theatre...

However as I said at the start - Saturday night not likely for discounts, already likely to be busy, book now!

    Hope that's helpful!

Nearly forgot - if you have kids with you in your party... Children aged 5-16 can see a show for free when accompanied by an adult during the week 13th - 27th August.

Register for interest and info on booking (tickets available mid-July) at the kids week website. However, demand is incredibly high on this also so you need to be quick if you use this method!

Oliver and Billy Elliot are confirmed to be taking part.

Oliver is also rumoured to be closing in January 2011.

Post how you get on with tickets and the show!
  • Thanks so much for the help and advice. To avoid disappointment, I'll make sure I book this week!
