BT Landline Problems!!!

I've recently started to have problems with my BT Landline. I have 1 telephone & 1 BT Homehub connected to my socket but I cannot make or receive calls but I'm still getting Broadband?!?!
Everything was fine until about 2 months ago when the problems started up.
When I pick up the phone there is a load of crackling noise. Have plugged phone directly into line box socket but I'm still getting the terrible noise & still unable to make or receive calls!!
When someone does try to ring me it knocks off my Broadband.
BT have said they have done a line check & there is nothing wrong. I've had a new hub too as my previous one died on me - but I still had problems with the old hub.
So the question is - do I have a line problem? / is it a broadband problem?
All equipment is fairly new & I'm just getting no help from BT!
Any help would be very appreciated - Thank you :j

sounds like you have failed to put in the line splitter
you need one in every socket in the house , Sky boxes , burglar alarms etc
you normally have 2 in the box with your wireless router
you have described what happens when you have no splitter on the line ie crackling and broadband dropping
if you have the above all plugged in then swap for a spareEx forum ambassador

you can test to see if its the line causing the noise by going to the master socket and removing the front

and then plugging the telephone directly into the test socket by removing the 2 screws and pulling off the front as shown in the above pictureEx forum ambassador

Sound like you have an HR type fault with the line from your description.
Follow the steps in the BT guide: http://www2.bt.com/static/i/media/pdf/repair_guide.pdf
{failure to do so could result in a huge charge from Openreach if you call out an engineer}
Personally I would remove the faceplate from the NTE 5 and plug in a simple, wired phone (tested on a neighbours line so it is known to be good). Then, if you are a BT customer dial 17070 press option '2' (quite line test) and listen to the background noise for a few minutes. If you can hear lots of crackling like someone scrunching a packet of crisps, time to call your provider.0
