How about these for the dessert table?

Also melon cocktail, how about some Midori Melon, some Malibu and some pineapple juice, topped with a wedge of melon. Or melon martinis with cocktail sticks with melon balls on in your colours?

What other things you thinking/ have you found any caterers yet? Maybe they might have suggestions of venues??

we too are having a bbq ..im lucky as my auntie has a beautiful house with a beutiful garden :) so we are having it there but to be honest i have no idea what it will be like as i have left my wonderful aunts to organise it for me :) they offered and its less stress for me, im happy to just let them get on with it, i know they will do a great job!

but i agree with the others...bunting, tealights, i do like all the floral pastels that are associated with a english garden party :)
  • My first thoughts were gingham, wild flowers (I think if it was me I'd want slightly 'messy' looking centrepieces, almost like they'd been randomly and freshly picked) and strawberries.

No caterer booked yet, I'm still trying to sort a venue that will either let me have an outside BBQ caterer.

I was just going to see where in Manchester you are looking at as I have an independent hotel booked for my reception, it'll just be us there and there is no room hire, just paying for the meals and drinks.
I wouldn't think you would get anyone that will let you do your own BBQ unless they didn't do food, maybe a farm, or somewhere with large gardens?

Yeah, that's the kind of thing we're really after - somewhere like a farm, or somewhere with big garden grounds, but finding somewhere like that has proved impossible for me so far.

Do you mind me asking which independant hotel you've gone with ?

it's on the edge of Rochdale, which is why I was asking where in manchester you are.
I have pictures of the outside at the back if you want to see.

They also do a civil ceremony there too, it costs £150 for the room but that pays for something else too I think, I'm not getting married there so I didn't pay much attention

    Hi,

We are having a similar kinda theme for our wedding next June. Having the reception at a village hall with lovely grounds that we can use. This way we can be manly indoors or mainly outdoors depending on the weather and we can also do our own catering.

Food will be a picnic affair with a hamper of goodies on each table with home made pate, chutneys, cold meats, local cheese, breads etc. Using gingham table cloths and white enamal jugs filled with sweet williams as centre pieces. Although if the weather is good (fingers crossed!) We'll have a stack of picnic blankets ready so we can eat outdoors. Will have pitchers of pimms for everyone to share. Not decided on desserts yet but will probably go for strawberries and cream, some home-made cakes and a mound of scones with jam and clotted cream so people can just help themselves to what they fancy.

I'm using lots of bunting, candles in jars and jugs of flowers as decoration and I'll be hiring some giant garden games for everyone to play.

Just looked at the moss lodge website, and it looks wonderful, but we need to feed more than 52, and it says that is the maximum for guests dining.

Thanks for passing along their details though

Does anyone have any nice melon cocktail recipes - I've done a quick search through google, but nothing's jumping out of me !
