Have you cleaned it out properly? Did all the black crap come out of it?
When was it last serviced?0 -
there wasnt that much crap in it, do i need to take it off fully? I basically undid the two top bolts and sprayed WD40 in both parts, someone said about the butterfly bolt and loosening the screw?I had MOT done last week but not been serviced for a while0

IVC deffo.. clean it with brake and carb cleaner.. but ultimately it will need replacing.. i dont think they are expensive from ford tbh (less than £40 i know that)
edit.. take of the unit ( 2 x 8mm bolts) and undo the wiring plug.. spray carb cleaner in and tip it out repeat until the liquid that comes out is clear.. lube with wd40 and refit unitSealed pot challenger # 10

It could also be the throttle position sensor or the wiring going into it. You will see a little sensor where the throttle cable goes into it. You need to test it with a multmeter (google will have the correct measurements).
Really though you need to get it fault read. Although the car has no ECU warning lights it still has a modern ECU any any fault reader should pick up on what is causing the issue. It could be something as simple as a dodgy coil pack.
If the car is otherwise running perfectly I would suggest the idle control valve is the most likely fault on this engine.
I've also cured this fault by disconnecting the throttle position sensor, then trying to start it you will find it won't start. Then connect it back again and start it. It actually cured the stalling on one of my 1.3 Endura Fiestas.0 -
have just cleaned in and leaving it to soak in WD40, if its no good will just buy a new one and fit it, it only appears to do it when im trying to park which is annoying!Looking at the part on ebay can get one for around £200

Are there any other things i should do to it, only had it a few days so want to do most work before taking it for a full service, just had the exhaust box replaced for MOT, taking for a drive is fine, apart from cutting it a few times0

Not sure of your car has one, but I had similar symptoms when my air mass flow meter failed. If you have one, it will be on the inlet side after the air filter. Disconnect the wiring and if it makes no difference, it may have failed/become damaged. Easy and cheap to replace.0

It does indeed have one and I know from my Corsa its a nightmare to diagnose although when the MAF went with that it never stalled but it had far too many flat spots. I would be going through a major junction and when I put my foot down nothing would happen for a few seconds. It was quite dangerious.0

Common problem but as people said cheap and easy to sort out and good on you for doing your research and having a crack at it yourself.
With mine I found it was ok from cold but if I had been driving it then stopped for 10-15 minutes and continued driving it would play up every time.
This isnt something they would pick up on a standard service.0 -
ok will try that thanks will update soon, it only stalls when i have stopped or slowing down to stop not when i am actually driving but doesnt do it all the time0
