The tiny spider that taught me a big lesson....

Options
Hi everyone. Welcome to my new diary. I haven't been around for a little while, mainly because I have been trying to adapt to the self-employed lifestyle.....without much success.

Firstly, let me explain the reason behind my diary name. I did a carboot this morning to help my sister out and I saw a little spider on the table. He was trying to climb up a tall plastic wine bottle holder. He started off not getting very far before falling off, but he didn't give up and kept on trying. I must have watched him try to climb it 10-15 times before I got distracted by a customer. Each time he got a little bit further up before falling down.

As I watched him, I thought 'is that spider stupid or is he brave and determined?'. I decided on the latter. Even though it was hard, and even though he kept on failing, he was determined to get to the top of that object. I never did see if he made it or not, but I like to think that he did.

After that, I started thinking about my life at the moment. I really want to make self-employment work for me. It is better for my health (I have Cystic Fibrosis) and I feel that in the long run, it can work for me financially too.

The things that I am lacking at the moment are motivation, goals and support. I knew instantly where I could find all three....here.

So, the next 3 posts on my diary are going to be reserved for long-term goals, monthly goals and my daily to-do list to make the goals happen. I will update them all regularly and will also post on my diary every day.

Please feel free to come on here and shout at me, cheer me on or give me a good kick up the backside whenever you can :).

Emily xx

great i was waiting until you had done your 3 posts before i posted...lol..

it is strange how little things like watching that spider can put things into pospective sp?

when you look ahead at what you need to do... things seem impossible, but when you look back at what you have allready achieved, its amazing.....

look forward to reading your diary....:T

Thanks Chick. I know what you mean about things looking impossible. I thought that they may seem a bit more do-able if I broke my goals down into monthly goals and daily tasks. We shall see :D.

I love the idea of a daydream fund BTW, looks like an idea for me for the future :).
