in Credit cards
I have now had the said card for just over a year (anniversary date 23rd August), and therefore I believe that I should be shortly receive just under £100 cashback (whoo-hoo!!).
My questions are:
1. Do I have to do anything special to receive this cashback (for example, contact them and ask them to send it) or do I just sit around and wait for it to drop onto the doormat?
2. I have long since stopped using the card since the 2%/1% introductory offers finished, but have not yet cancelled the card. Once I receive the cheque, is there any reason to keep the card or should I just cancel it - I have no plans to use it again (I have Egg/Nationwide cards for cashback/overseas use respectively).
3. How long after the anniversary date should my cheque appear?
Many thanks
Dave

Mine usually appeared about a month after the anniversary, but this year only took 2 weeks.
No need to do anything - they stick a cheque in the post.
I'd cancel if I were you - as you say, there's better cashback options.0 -

I would keep it if I were you. Egg Money 1% cashback is only guaranteed until January 2007. If they decide to lower it, at least you got Morgan Stanley where you can get 1% on the first £2000 spend in a year.0 -
What are your credit limits like with Morgan Stanley? My wife got a louzy amount, and not sure whether that was because she has a couple of stoozing cards or that they are trying to limit the amount of spend and therefore cashback, especially in the first few months when the cashback is 2%0

The credit limits were not too bad - about double what Egg and Nationwide have given us and about the same as our old (cancelled) First Direct credit card which we had when we applied. But we never spend within half of our credit limit, even in the biggest months.0

I have Egg for the online special cashback deals and Nationwide for travel overseas, but I wouldn't be without my Morgan Stanley Platinum card.
I signed up with MSDW in 1998 and use my cashback card exclusively for retail purchases. You can manage your account online and MSDW accepts payments by phone so if your PC lets you down, you can still settle the bill speedily in the comfort of your own home, using the automated telephone system. There's a Freefone number for this and for those occasions when you need to speak to a human being.
Cashback's not as good as the current Egg rate but, as noted already this may not last. Well worth keeping IMO, if customer service and telephone back-up is important to you.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I wouldnt be without my Morgan Stanley card either. But thats mainly because its the longest credit card recorded on my Credit Reference files (early 2001) and it looks good to have five years of history. I have another 2003 card and the others are from last year and one from this.
Morgan Stanley's cashback used to be good, but I'm not really fussed about it anymore.0 -
you can now get you cashback cheque when ever you want by calling customer services and it will not automatically be sent out. This was sent to me through the post by morganstanley themselves0

yes when ever you want you do not have to wait for you anniversary. if you wis you can claim it half way throught the year think there was a minimum you could claim think it was about £150

Minimum is £15 and multiples thereof.
So if you have £29 you can only get a cheque for £15. Or it can now be paid into the credit card account. The other £14 remains until it exceeds £15.0
