we had our offer accepted on 17th May, FTB, no chain either side, we are (fingers crossed!) getting the keys on Friday (25th June) signed contracts Friday just gone (18th June). That included having homebuyers survey, searches, environmental searches and a quote for some woodworm work. Hope it goes well for you :)

That's quick!!! A lot quicker than it's taking us, at least. We had our offer accepted on 18th May. The formal mortgage offer has been posted last Friday, so we have to sign that and send it. We are now waiting for the solicitor to complete all the necessary searches, then we can exchange and complete. Hoping to do this within the next month.

I have heard that the average time to complete is 3 months.

not necessarily, you can get a solicitor to give you a fixed fee

Yes you can, if you read the fine print of such a document (I'm looking at one now) there is usually a section on not phoning the solicitor every single day.

I really wouldn't harass them every day as there is only so much they can do to speed the situation up (waiting for reports to come back)

I agree with this! Plus why shouldn't they charge you extra for wasting their time every day?
