Claiming back petrol used from Tax Office?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread:o
My brother is employed by a company and has just found out from a colleague that he should have been claiming his fuel back from the tax man for the last 6 years. He has to use his own car to go all round the country for them.
He has asked his colleague how to do this but never gets a straight answer........
So if anyone could give me info on how to do this I would be most grateful:kisses:
Thanks.

My brother does not claim anything, his colleague claims mileage allowance and my brother wants to know how he goes about doing the same.
Does he need to get some forms from somwhere?
If so where and what forms?:smileyheaMagenta0 -

Your brothers colleague do not claim allowances.
What they are actually doing is asking for 40p/25p per mile to be non taxable so iif they drive 10,000 miles a year they are asking that their taxable salary be decreased by 4k hence saving about £800 a year in tax.0 -

Can you just confirm that your brother claims no travel expenses from his employer. It's still not clear from your posts.0 -
Thanks for the link Wee Willy, that's exactly what I wanted.:smileyheaMagenta0

Is the car insured for business use?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

So your brother is running a car on behalf of a company and they are not paying him? Does he also go do the work for no wages?
The business insurance aspect is also very important - if he doesn't have it tell him not to have an accident.0
