Hi,

If you guys could help me with that It'll be very really helpful.

Here's my current rates are

Normal units
10.71 pence per kWh
Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
6.5247 pence
Normal units
3.1584 pence per kWh

Gas Discounts
6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
2.00 % Online Discount

Electricity Discounts
6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount

What do they mean by secondary units, my supplier is eon is that the case with all the other suppliers.

My supplier is saying anything about the standing charges but some of the other suppliers are quoting standing charges and how do I compare them with mine.

I'm from Pitsea in Basildon Essex, and could you guys advise me about my current tariffs are they average high or good.

Primary units, which are charged at a higher rate replace the old standing charge and are applied for the first n units per quarter.
You need to work out your annual gas and electric consumption in Kwh and feed them into a comparison site, let it do the math.
    try Energyhelpline.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Your tariff does not include a standing charge because they charge the equivalent by charging the first 900 electric units per year at the higher primary rate, then the remainder at the secondary rate.
The primary units are charged on a daily basis and for your electric equals about 2.5 per day.
So the bill you have quoted should be for about 105 days.
The gas is done in exactly the same way.
Your best bet to see if your tariff is competitive is to go on a comparison site such as Energyhelpline and input your current tariff details and your annual kwh consumption. That will show any cheaper tariffs, could be either standing charge or non standing charge depending on your usage.

    Hi tekie

Already some excellent advice on here. Thought I would just add a couple of points.

The prices you have put in blue are without VAT; whilst those in green include VAT.

The tariff you mention sounds like our standard online tariff. As NBG says, this does not have a standing charge. Also, the online discount is only 2 per cent.

There are better online discounts available but these have cancellation fees for breaking the terms of the agreement before the product end date.

Full details are available on our website.

However, there may be better deals available with other suppliers. Therefore, I would pop your details on to one of the comparison sites to see a fuller picture.

Just a quick heads up tekie. If you decide to switch supplier, we do not give discount on the final bill. Consequently, it is best to time a move away to lessen the impact of this.

Hope this makes things a bit clearer. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so. :)
