Hi,
When I was younger and still a meat eater/milk drinker, I was able to lose weight quite easily following about 1200 cals a day, nowadays it's very slow loss and difficult to sustain.
I have been looking for plans, ie weight watchers/slimming world etc., but they seem to be geared up for meat eaters really. Slimming world do have veggie plans but they are still milk recipes and not soya.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please, no milk, butter or meat, I do eat fish though.
Edited to add, I drink at least 2 litres of water a day often 3 and I am on thyroid meds.
Thanks

I'm not a veggie, but I don't any meat, just fish, and I have lost 1 stone and a half on Slimming World in the last three months. I've also successfully lost weight on WW in the past, so they can both be non-meat friendly.
I'm really enjoying SW at the moment. One of the things I like about it is that you can have soya milk as a healthy extra rather than dairy milk, which is helpful.
I'd definitely recommend finding out more about SW.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator

My mum is a weightwatchers leader and I have been to plenty of her groups to help her out (when she needs staff). I have heard all sorts doing the plan, men, women, people on no dairy, no carbs, no meat...etc and it seems fine- its no different really to normal eating just smaller.
I'd go speak to WW leader and ask for advice, yes your diet will be limited but no more limited to how it would be every day if you were not on the diet.
You will find it harder to lose weight if you are older, especially over and above the menopause age (you don't mention your age) but this is due to changes in the hormones of your body and the way it utilises the energy you give it. It can be worked around with better diet plans and watching what you eat but it will feel that bit harder to how it was when you were younger. It will be the same whichever diet you choose.0 -

I'm following SW at the moment and while not a veggie I do mostly green days which would suit you. I also drink unsweetened soya milk as my healthy extra choice as you get the same daily allowance as skimmed milk. I agree with Jennie that maybe popping along to a WW or SW class to discuss your requirements may be the best way to start off. Good luck with it.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0

One thing to note is that you are a pesceterian.
On the weight loss thing you do not say about what you eat. You say about drinking water through the day which is good however nothing about what you eat. If you are eating loads of cr*p instead of loads of fruit and vegetables that isn't going to help for example.
Eating mostly fruit, vegetables, grains, seeds, nuts etc is going to be best. Erm I haven't done WW or SW but I am sure you could substitute with soya milk. After all soya milk usually has less calories, less fat and if fortified the same or more calcium.
I take it the thyroid meds are because it is underactive? Did your GP do a blood test to see if you are low in iodine? It might be you have low iodine levels which can be a problem for the thyroid and weight loss. If you have a problem with you thyroid you should talk to your GP about how to lose weight. They might be able to get you an appointment with the dietitian to help you.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

Pescetarian mmm, had to look that one up, thanks for that

I eat loads of salad and veggies and I snack on fruit, the only crap I have is a weight watchers dessert or a lolly from the freezer, oh and pepsi max, ............. I know, I know, but it helps with the sweet cravings..............Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

Lol, I think even the healhiest of people have at least the odd treat. I know I certainly do
. No harm in them if you don't have them too often.
If I were you I would seriously think about asking for a referal to a dietitian from your GP. Although it may take a while, if they agree, it probably is your best bet due to your thyriod issues.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

Slimming World green days are the best for you - i have been doing slimming world and have lost nearly 4 stone - it definately works and you can still have chocolate, yogurts, sweets etc. and still loose weight!
Check in with your local Slimming World group - they are very helpful!0
