Power-saving 'smart' socket for fridge/freezer

I'm sure I once caught sight of an article about an energy-saving device into which you plug your fridge or freezer power cable and which in turn plugs into a normal household socket.

I don't know its name and can't unearth it on Google. I'm sure the man at Maplins will tell me tomorrow... but can anyone here tell me tonight?

More to the point, is anyone already using such a thing and is it cost effective?

I been interested too but some fridge/freezers arent compatable and also my fridge/freezer is eco one with electronic controls, its a bloddy pain to be honest.

Remember that you can save a lot by just switching off standby - you really can see the difference by switching off at the plug - apart from the fridge/freezer!
