XD corrupt card-help required

Just back from Holiday and our digital camera (Olympus FE160) with 2 GB xd card keeps requesting formatting when powered up and our pictures appear lost.
I am sure it is possible to recover the holiday pics with a recovery programme, can anyone help in suggesting or recommending one many thanks in anticipation.

    it is an XD card
I have just used stella pheonix photo recovery scan (via google) and it has recovered all 153 photos but the freeware only covers the scan ( i can now see thumbnails of each photo) for me to save them I have to register and pay 49 Can $ (approx £25) so now looking for a freeware version

If that finds them, im shocked if RECUVA doesnt! Are you sure youve used RECUVA correctly?

I am having same holiday pic problem with my xd card (olympus C25 camera) and posted a note the other day but I didnt get any assistance on that thread so will follow yours with hope! - Mine says "clean card" "format" but I don't want to format in case that is a defo loss. I tried PC Inspector Smart Recovery yesterday (suggest you do this in intensive mode from the menu at top. I did mine from the wizard and after 3 hours it found nothing but then it suggested I use the intensive mode (for another 3 hours!) and it found 143 jpeg files but I can only see about 30 of these in thumbnail view - however, when I tried to look via slide show the image fails to show. It might be worth you trying this free software you might have more look than me.
I have just tried the recuva also and it has retried 1 file (thumbnail view) - but again only shows half pic in slide show view.
anyone else tried any free software that might work please.
the 143 files are jpeg files and are quite large - they don't appear to open with the normal opening programmes - is there anything that would open jpeg. even the files without a thumbnail are showing as quite large files so it looks like there is something there..????

ok i have manged to recover all bar 6 of the 158 photos for free using EASEUS data recovery free edition (http://www.easeus.com/download.htm) this gives up to 1 GB of free data recovery.
I used the partition recovery and saved the photos to my hard drive from the XD card using a card reader.
So now very happy that the holiday photos are safe.
    Hope this helps others

    EASEUS
    PC SMART INSPECTOR
    RECUVA

None of these worked for me - they recovered same files in thumbnail view but none of them would view in slide show (full screen) without showing signs of corruption within the files.
The best one I used (recovered same files above) but can be viewed (and hopefully loaded onto facebook) was PhotoRec 6.10 which I found on the cnet.com site (sorry unable to give link)
Although the only thing with this is that it is a MS-DOS app so it is not user friendly interface. I'm defo no techie and I managed it! :)
