I'm not sure if the 'Portfolio Builder' is right for me or not, so would appreciate any feedback (I think this is still in the spirit of the OP, if not please forgive the threadjack
) I like the sound of the £1.50 trading fee, but is this per stock per month (assuming you're buying monthly)? And do you have to buy some of each stock each time, or can you buy one stock on the first month, a different one next month etc? Ach, I know I should re-read the iii help pages, but it's not the same as a customer's-eye-view...
I did exactly the same thing - I think it's because on the last page the 'decline' button is where the 'next' button is on the previous pages
I would also like an answer to the questions you put forward, so if anyone can help out that'd be swell.Savings: 9.5%

Portfolio Builder is very flexible. There are 4-5 days per month, and you can set it up to buy whatever you want. You can buy a quantity of shares, a £value, or a proportion of your remaining pot. You can buy whatever number of different stocks you wish. You can set up a regular purchase, or a one-off instruction (which is what I do). The £1.50 is per stock per trade as far as I know.MacsReturns wrote: »I'm not sure if the 'Portfolio Builder' is right for me or not, so would appreciate any feedback (I think this is still in the spirit of the OP, if not please forgive the threadjack

So for instance, I've sold some shares today and have some cash in my account. The next investment day is tomorrow, so I went on and arranged to top up one of my holdings tomorrow.

I've used them for over a year now, starting with a sharedealing account, have opened a SIPP account with them and recently transferred in my S&S ISA to them too.
I find them really reliable and they are really helpful on the phone too.
Their fees are reasonable too.Save £12K IN 2013 Member #217 £3654.88/£6,000 (60%)

I believe so .... portfolio builder is free at the moment so I cannot test it out!As in, I want to buy X amounts of stocks in XXX and Y amount of stocks in YYY on the same pre-determined date, so I'll pay £3.00?

yes, it's £1.50 per share purchase, so £100 in vodafone will cost £1.50, and £300 in Aviva will cost £1.50.
It is free at the moment as others have mentioned, I hope they extend it like they did before (free to buy, £1.50 to sell)

Ooooooooo can you sell through portfolio builder? Or did they reduce the £10 selling fee at some point to £1.50? :jyes, it's £1.50 per share purchase, so £100 in vodafone will cost £1.50, and £300 in Aviva will cost £1.50.

sorry that must have been me having a blonde moment - I don't think you can sell through portfolio builder - it has to be done in real time (and costs £10). It must be the hot weather!0

@Wobblydeb - thanks for your reply - I've taken the plunge and got some 'Portfolio Builder' purchases lined up for Monday (last available day of the free trades assuming they don't extend the period
). It was as you said, very flexible and straightforward.... all apart from getter the ticker code right for BP  A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone - Thoreau0 -
Next scheduled buying day is Tuesday I think. The roundtrip cost would be 10 or 5 on average which is pretty good but the price can vary alot in a day so its a bit of a gamble only worth doing for small amounts where it matters less because you are buying an average price multiple times maybe
If they put in the 1.50 cost it'll be 11.50 roundtrip or 5.75 on average to buy and sell. Thats about the same as x-o who deal for 5.95 a time in realtime
Share.com do buying for 2.50 four times a day apparently and 7.50 to sell I think it is
Cost is per share selected so 1.50 per share, the amount doesnt matter0
