    I guess you mean Ubuntu...

Do you want to me able to choose either Ubuntu at startup or XP?
If you do you need to dual boot, I used to install XP first then Ubuntu not 100% sure if it will work the other way round.

Or do you want to install avast and things on Ubuntu?
If you do then sounds like you need to install/find Wine so you can install Windows and Windows programs. Otherwise you will need to find linux versions of programs you previously used.

I would have thought you would have done a bit more research into Ubuntu before installing it, but hey ..

The utorrent equivalent is called "deluge"

You don't need anti-virus software on Linux ..

    http://www.linux.com/news/software/applications/8261-note-to-new-linux-users-no-antivirus-needed

But if you absolutely feel you have to have it ..

    http://free.avg.com/gb-en/download.prd-afl

You won't need a registry cleaner either, or spyware cleaner.

the VLC equivalent is .. VLC ..

The equivalent to "ConvertXtoDVD" is called "DeVeDe"

    Hi
    Look in:-
    System > Preferences > Appearance > Fonts
Here you can change the font size for various headings and messages.

Windows programs don't run on Ubuntu.

Downloads. Menu bar at the top, Places, your user name. Opens a File Manager and you'll find the downloads folder if you click on your name.

Go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager

and search for the software you need.

You will not really need an anti virus, but if you insist, install "clamav". There is absolutely no need for malwarebytes, regcure and spybot. Firstly because there is no registry in Ubuntu and secondly nothing can be installed without you putting in your password.

VLC should be installed by default. If not, install it as I described above.

The default bittorrent client in Ubuntu is Transmission and you'll find it under Applications -> Internet.

Instead of convertxtodvd you could use dvdstyler or search the package manager for "dvd" and select a program which looks like it will do what you want.

There's also the Ubuntu Software Centre (applications > Ubuntu Software Centre) which is more newbie friendly than synaptic is. Both to the pretty much the same thing apart from the added screenshots/description in the software centre.

    :)

You're right. I'm so used to Synaptic that I haven't ever used the Software Centre. The "real geek" uses apt-get though... ;)
