Next.co.uk swiping funds from acount.

Options
Just a heads up for anyone with a Next.co.uk account - I bought some items from next.co.uk (totalling around £300) and immediately settled the account (they seem to make you to open a credit account rather than being able to buy it there & then), one of the items needed returning, so I booked the return and they duly came and collected said item - after about 10 days I noticed the amount still hadn't been credited back to my account so I had to chase them for a month and send proof of collection several times before they finally conceded error and credited my account (now a £25.50 positive balance). Anyway - moving on about another month I noticed they charged me a 50p "Service Charge Adjustment", so I emailed them asking why I was being charged fees - they said it was a mistake and credited the 50p back - moving on another month I logged in to buy some bits and noticed my account was now showing £0.00, so I checked the latest statement and it says "account adjustment, -£25.50" so they've basically swiped my money for no reason! I've tried complaining but get no where fast. I'm darned sure that if I owed THEM £25.50 they would NOT have done an "account adjustment" down to £0.
Thieving swines, good mind to forward all statements and attempted correspondence to BBC WatchDog to try and get an answer. It's only £25.50 but the bare faced cheek of it makes my blood boil!
If you have a positive balance with next.co.uk, make sure you spend it or they simply steal it with no explanation!!!

Next have always been helpful with me when they haven't credited me for a returned item. I'd given them a call & ask them to recredit it and then close your account.

Same as above, never had any problems with Next, used them for over 10 yrs, buy about 12 items per month deliveries always ok, accounts section never a problem.

  • Have had many similar problems with Next. Items not delivered. Wrong items delivered. Items showing in stock but then not in stock. Statement wrong. Delivery charged when I used a "free code". They always sort it out but it takes time. However, I once had a £2,000 credit balance. I had wrongly paid Next, when I meant to pay off my credit card!! OMG what a kerfuffle. It took weeks to get the money back, with excuse after excuse. I know it was my fault, and I was always careful to point that out to them when I called, but although the Customer Service people are friendly (I find) (and I have probably spoken to most of them), I am shocked that such a well-thought-of store can have such a shoddy mail order service.
