cd/dvd drive

My cd -dvd drive has broken on our computer,when you put a disk in it starts to spin then stops, after looking into it it, seems that the drivers have disappeared if that makes sense,and when you go in my computer in hard drives nothing is there.

can any one help

if its not appearing in my computer then it might be that the connection IDE cable has become lose as the drive is still spinning.

does the light come on the drive when you put a cd/dvd in?

might be worth getting someone that knows about Pc's to just check all the cables are in tight enough.

check the cables as previously stated, then check the drivers are working and installed for your cd/dvd player, (in system Admin.) if its not displaying in My Computer, it doesnt sound like a hardware fault, however, if its grinding, its possible your cd/dvd player needs replacing.
