Can anyone advise me please?!!
I recently went into a shop and asked for "neutral suede protector spray" (for shoes) the sales assistant went and got me a spray tin from the stockroom which I purchased. At home I started spraying my brand new (never worn) beige shoes only to discover to my horror the spray was black! My shoes are ruined. I phoned the shop immediately and complained. The girl admitted she thought it was a neutral colour and didn't know it came in black. She said it was "obviously our fault" and would contact their customer services. They have now come back to me and said because it says "black" on the tin, it's not their fault. Is this worth pursuing?

I think I would take this further - the shop staff appear to have admittd it was their fault. OK so, maybe you should have noticed but if the staff member said it was the right stuff its understandable that you didn't look too closely. They ought to be able to agree to an ex gratia/goodwill payment.ELITE 5:2

Hopefully the product does not carry a warning along the lines of "test on an inconspicuous area first". Regardless of the colour provided I would imagine the shop would try to use that to get out of paying any compensation beyond replacing the product.0

Try a nicely worded letter, complementing on how apologetic and nice the sales assistant was, stressing you don't want her to get into trouble, but you are down a pair of shoes, to Head Office?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll
