can anybody please help!? i need to move my ntl digital tv box from one room to another. ntl can't seem to advise me of the type of cable they use but would be happy to charge me £50 for an engineer to call and move the box. on advice of a hardware storeman, i bought shielded coax cable but it hasn't worked.
can anyone advise me of the type of cable i need, where i can buy it and for how much? i need 20 metres. will the box perform properly with that length of cable?

Give maplin a ring and check out their cable/satellite cables and the relevant male/female connectors.
Should be about £5-£10 max I think.
I looked into this a few years back and the maplin guys where very helpful.0 -
We got an extension cable knocked up for us by an NTL chap on another job !
We just happened to come across an NTL van outside a house, saw the chap doing some work in their garden, so explained what our problem was (cable too short for us to put box in preferred position).
"No problem" he said, and went off and knocked up a cable for us - about 15 metres in length as requested, which works fine for us. Gave him a fiver for his trouble.
Top service! A bit cheeky, but no harm in asking if you just happen to see a van in your road !0 -
B&Q stock everything you need to make your own patch lead. Did this myself not so long ago.
The connectors are F-types (males)
The cable is shielded sky/cable.0
