just had a netbook and my @ key is on the number 2 for some reason. my big laptop does the same. any ideas how to change it please?

    yes...you need to change the language settings, 'coz it's set for USA keyboard layout. In XP, go to Regional and Language Settings in Control Panel and change them in there :)

    I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Do you mean that that when you press "2" it prints "@" instead? Then you need to press "Caps Lock" and try it again. Or do you mean that the "@" is on the same key above the "2"? That's normal for a US keyboard.

    Pressing the Caps Lock key won't make any odds, what you describe is controlled by the Shift key.

    I'm in agreement with GunJack, the regional & language settings are set at English US rather than English UK

    Shift then 2 makes a @ and what should make the @ makes a ". if thats normal for a US keyboard how do I make it an English one please.

    Sorry its Windows 7 starter.

    Its on a new netbook that has done my head in and already a pixel has gone on the screen and less than a week old. And it keep resetting its wireless. So annoying

    Press Start -> Contron Panel -> Clock, Language and Region (Change keyboard or other input methods) -> Change to United Kingdom as Default
