Play station 3

My son's Playstation 3 has stop working, it does not read the game disc which we put in. when I rang sony, they siad it is outside warranty and they would offer an exhange a recondition machine for £131/=,my son had saved all his paper round money to buy PS3, + all the expensive games , i requested if this machine can be checked by sony if there is fault, they said when we buy sony product we agree to thier terms and condtions, i asked how could a 14 year is meant to rad all terms and condition, the manager was not willing to listen.
Hence my son is heart broken that he can no longer play with ps3 game console.
please can some tell me if they have similar issue with sony and did they manage to get the PS3 fixed.
As consumer do we have right this machine fixed by sony when the machine is being weel looked after.

In another words: possibly. Who did you buy it from? Get it contact with the retailer

    And in loads of words:
Your contract is with the retailer, not the manufacturer, so if you bought it from a shop, contact them.

Within 6 months of purchase the onus is on the retailer to prove the fault wasnt apparent at purchase but after 6 months, it falls on the customer to prove its a manufacturers fault and not something that has developed through customer misuse or wear n tear.

I would have fixed it for free if I wasn't working away from home and lived locally to you :(

Its quite easy to fix and replace the blu ray drive see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qztw_aUBQhI

Its more then likely you only need to change the lense and these lenses would cost about £50.

Go to a trustworthy local PC store and see what price they would offer to fix it.

    Hello Wish.

The exact same thing happened to my sons PS3 on Christmas day would you believe,we were absolutely incensed because for christmas alonf with other things he recieved about seven brand new expensive games to play.

I went out on boxing day and got him one of the new slim models.

I phoned Sony and like you got the same response, but i was that livid i kept on contacting them for about four days,in the end they relented and i got the PS3 (Phat model) repaired by them for something like sixteen pounds.

The problem was the same as yours it stopped reading the disc, there has been a big rise in this happening and if you google it you will see the results are staggering.

Good luck with your quest,it takes a lot for them to back down but i did not give up and mine was repaired out of warranty for £16.00.
