Ebay Password Reset Problems!

Hi

I received an email from ebay saying that due to unusual activity on my account my password has been reset, I went onto ebay, tried my existing password (just to check) then went through the whole forgotten password process, I received the email with the link to change my password, I click the link, enter my username then type in my new password and the next page comes up with
Session has timed out
Due to prolonged inactivity your password was not changed. Please re-sign in and try again.
It does this every time, what shall I do now.

Did you go onto ebay via a link in your email or Directly? I would be very suspicious of emails telling you your password had been reset. It sounds like a scam email to me. I would phone ebay and discuss this with them

I went direct to the site, tried to sign in but it wouldn't let me so i went to forgotten password, but when they sent an email to reset the password you have to click the link, theres no other way to do it.

Im speaking to live help now.

Ive just asked them what the unusual activity was and he said, my password was potentially compromised, so I asked how, hes said There are numerous attempts and sign ins on your account though I can no longer provide any further explanation regarding this because security precautions prevent me from discussing our proprietary tools and investigation procedures that led us to this action. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Strange, ive never had anything like this before.

Shut down your browser. Clear your cookie cache and then go to ebay (not via a link) and reset your password.

I don't know if it applies in this case, but it may be useful to other people...
I recently changed my password and when I went to log in it did not recognise it, tried a few times.
It worked fine after I cleared history, cookies etc.

This happened before as well, it seems quite normal even when you simply want to change your password (without other issues)
