I have had my Acer laptop now for 2 years, the screen is now flashing blue/green and misty is the only way I can describe it. I have tried virus scans and all ok, also tried with my LCD tv and it works fine so I know its a hardware problem. I would like to know what this could be and if I need to just bite the bullet and buy a whole new screen? I was hoping it would be a loose connection but I checked for this also and all seems good.

Does sound like the screen is goosed.
Boot into BIOS (DEL, F8, F12 or whatever) and see if it still plays up.
Sadly one of the more expensive screens though (£114)

Might be worth trying a different panel cable first in case that's gone faulty. Can usually pick them up on Feebay for a tenner. Similarly, it could possibly be the screen inverter that's gone faulty (also around a tenner).0

I did think about the inverter but was informed if that had gone it would just be a black screen.
When you say boot in BIOS you mean when it's starting up, do it in a different way? I'm not great with the software, I can take it apart and put it back together ok but not the actual working of the laptop!0 -

Re the inverter, not necessarily. I've just replaced the inverter on my Compaq 6720s and the screen worked, but it only filled up 75% of the left hand side with 3" border down the right side. It was exactly the same in the BIOS as well which ruled out being a graphics card problem or a resolution problem. Picked up a secondhand screen inverter on feebay for a tenner and it fixed the problem. Obviously your problem is different, but I still wouldn't rule out the inverter personally. I guess it depends whether you want to take a gamble shelling out £10 trying a new cable and then another £10 trying the inverter if that don't work, or whether you don't want to risk your new panel being £135 instead of £115 if you just bought it without trying the other options. :cool:0 -
Well it works on other screens so that would suggest the graphics cards are fine. Think I will have to bite the bullet, although I refuse to use feebay as you call it. lol, Where else would I get a screen?0

Hi, I don't know elsewhere as I got mine from Ebay, from lcdkings actually who is the same seller for yours at £114. I doubt you'll get it cheaper than that elsewhere but you can try.0

I ended up buying a screen and an inverter at the cost of 130 pounds. Seems to of fixed the screen but i think the screen is not as good quality as the original but its all working again. cheaper than a new laptop.0
