How long to give solicitor?

So we are buying a reprossesion so need to move quick. Instructed a solicitor last Wednesday about 20 miles away. Thursday night hadn't heard anything from them so rang and said they hadn't even looked at paperwork but would get it started and send us a letter with detials of deposit we needed to pay straight away. Saturday no letter from them. Are we being too over eager and expecting them to move too quickly? We thought least have something in writing from them by now.

Erm I reckon it's a bit slow - but I too am ultra impatient. The fastest solicitor is one who does auction stuff too - they know about deadlines.

If you don't have any info from them by Monday night I would seriously consider finding another one who will be faster.

When I went for a repossession I stressed the need for speed when getting quotes from solicitors. The one I went for guaranteed to work fast so I asked them to back up that guarantee with a 'no sale no fee' agreement. If they were tardy and I lost the house they didn't get paid!

I would expect at least the introduction letters by now really but I'm also slightly impatient occasionally. It may be that they have someone on holiday so are short staffed but I, personally, would be concerned if nothing arrived Monday.

When buying a repo the only thing that matters is speed. You need that property off the market asap, that means a quick exchange.

The deadline from the repo company will start the day your solicitor receives draft papers from the sellers solicitors. My only concern would be, if they are not working quickly just to get your instruction, how quickly are they going to be with the rest of the transaction?
