If a cheque that I have paid bounces, will my bank charge me something?

Do you mean that you have paid the cheque in to your bank account?
I'm not aware of any banks that charge personal customers for this, but you will need to check your own bank's tariff. As you haven't named the bank it's just about impossible for anybody to answer your question.0 -

No, it's one I've written to someone else but I got a statement yesterday and it seems there wasn't enough money in the account to pay it (it's with Santander).
The reason why there wasn't enough money in is because I paid a credit card bill from the account but the money was taken out three times!0 -
Looks like a fee of £35. Less for tiny amounts.

Thanks. I've just had a look at that but is that if you're actually overdrawn? On my statement it shows the cheque going out and straight back in on the same day.0

I've just been on the phone to the credit card company and they're putting the two lots of money back into my account. They said to ring Santander up and explain that it was wasn't my fault and hopefully they'll waive any charges (although I think that's a bit optimistic). I can't ring until Monday now though so I'll have to wait and see.0

Ultimately, if that doesn't get the solution that you wanted, the company responsible for the mistake should reimburse your charges in full.
So if it's the credit card company's error, go after them (and keep the letters that prove you have been charged).0
