Car Insurance

my current car insurance expires on the 6th of feb. Now I am to receive three years no claims...however I am not wishing to renew my insurance just yet as am due to go on holiday. I want to leave it until March if not a touch longer. I just wondered how long are you allowed to go with out insurance before losing your no claims allowance, also should I request written confirmation/certificate for my no claims???

Cheers for your help.

Your NCD will normally remain valid for up to 2 years but if you don't renew the policy just because you are going on holiday please realize that there will be no insurance in force. It will be as well to keepthe car off any public road and declare it as SORN.I don't remember what it's stands for but DVLC will accept that you have no car tax provided the car is not on the roads.
