 to all, please do not sign up for these products as they are a scam, and just want to fleece your money. Have sent emails and products back to cancel subscription. Saved emails to and from and made notes of deliveries and tracking numbers when received and returned products. Have been and cancelled card with bank so no further monies to be withdrawn. I have recently noticed that by account says it has been refunded money and also recieved an email to say they have refunded me, looking closely, the money hasnt been refunded, it has been withdrawn because it is minus the amounts not added the amounts, so im still being fleeced. I will go to the bank to see how this has happened , then i am not too sure wot else to do, can anyone give me some advice!! Consumer Rights, Ombudsman, Police, will any of these help me with this scam problem. Any advice would be much appreciated, Vicky.

do you have written proof from them that the money has supposedly been refunded and that they have received your cancellation request?

when you sign up to these "trials", in the terms and conditions there is a part that says it is a subscription service billed at £xx per month.

Have you also contacted your bank and made them aware these people arent authorised to remove money from your account, that you're having problems with them and that these amounts are disputed?

  • Hi, I too have been taken for a ride. I took advantage of the 'free trial' but when I tried to cancel the next order, there was nowhere that would link me to it. My 'ticket' as they put it, is still 'open' even though I have put it as a 'critical' stage! I am going to contact my bank next but am seething that there are companies out there that feel that it is ok to take advantage of consumers in this way. Even if I had found the product any good, I now wouldn't touch them!
Hope not too many others are suffering.

Both of these are total rip-offs! I realised yesterday that my account had been charged £74.50 by Procleanse, even though I had not even received the "free trial". I got onto their livechat and spoke to a woman through the livechat and they have promised a refund! My bank (Halifax) have refused to look at this as "you gave them the card number so authorised it" even though I have never received anything. I have done the same with Cho-Yung tea, as that was another offer I signed up for but received nothing. Please do not get taken in by this!
  • sorry to say but there must be something out there to stop this scam i allso have been caught out by this one as i ordered the free trial they said it would be delivered within the 14days i received the tea after the 14days i then noticed that £54 deducted from my bank accounti contacted my bank straight away all they could do for me was cancel my card so that no more could be deducted after cancelling with the bank i then emailed cho yung with a complaint about this happening then received a reply telling me that i should have cancelled the order after 14 days of ordering also that the next supply was on its way i was informed that i would receive a refund when all was returned providing all was secure this i did the day after i received it which took about another 14 days to deliver now i told them that i had cancelled the order within the 14 days as from the time i received the trial to the time i was billed for the next months supply i demanded my refund only to be told that they would refund my money less the postage and packaging now i returned the package by recorded delivery and that cost me about £3.50 all in they then sent me my refund of £27.25 stating the rest was for p+p now i dont think that they should get away with this sort of thing may this should be broughjt to light about this scam,

    Unfortunately they use legal loopholes.

You'll find the actual cho yung site say "trial" and not free trial.........however, the sites that link you to them will say "free trial".

Also, in the T&C's it will state you are signing up for a subscription service.

Lesson of the day? There are ALWAYS strings attached. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. And if it were free, they wouldnt need payment details ;)

I hope if you have been unlucky to lose money, you will be refunded soon.

Also good advice and something i do personally. If i have never dealt with them before and if they are not a well known chain..........i always google and make sure it is a reputable company.

  • Hello all, I am so glad I checked out reviews for Cho Yung Tea as I was about to send card details to them for the 'free' 14 day trial. After reading I went back to site to go back on my details and delete it but their site was apparently down, they have my address and email details so this should'nt amount to much - I hope. Regards to you all Artyfarty67

Whoa, donkeys!;) This is NOT a scam! The stuff works, for chrissake!, honest to god! I just lost 8 pounds in 5 days!!!

But the age old rule still abides. "Caveat Emptor" (that's Ancient Roman law meaning "Let the buyer beware"

What it is though, is a questionable business practice. But anyone
buying the products online from the site after reading the terms and conditions (thoughtfully provided on their website), especially regarding the Trial Offer, Cancellation and returns policy at Item 11, page 3, has to be mad (like me who also didn't read the Terms, etc).
(My wife's bank advised HER to be very careful of any and all offers like this!)

The failure to act promptly on customer's valid requests to cancel is another matter entirely.

The question of returning unused product, whilst being plain mean, is probably illegal since you have paid for the producteven if only the postal charges and it's yours.

All that said and done, I return to my opening remarks.
The products work for me and how!:j. I cancelled because of the questionable business matters, and because you can buy the product at Holland & Barrett anyway.(And probably at other HFShops.)
  • Oh no! I can't believe I've fallen victim to this scam to I signed up on 5th July for the free trial, yes I was silly & didnt read the terms but it does make out that you simply email them to cancel within the 14 days. So on Monday 12th after I had received the product last friday I decided to cancel as the product does not agree with me & I think it is too expensive a pack of tea bags £55??!!. So I emailed to cancel & was replied with I would have to send the empty wrappers back? & any teabags left over. Well I dont know about you but I'm not in the habit of keeping empty tea bag wrappers!! so I have just sent back what I had left & made sure it was recorded delivery. I have also cancelled my bank card & informed the bank & will just have to wait & see. I have abided by their terms & conditions to cancel so I shouldnt be charged. Will keep you updated & yes you can actually just buy these tea bags from ebay or holland & barrett for cheaper prices!
