Cheapest way to get a bird table?
I read that as something else (jumping to conclusion before reading the last word)0 -
:TJust a wee update. I had started a thread looking for ideas on the OS board, as my dh has offered to buy me an Eid present. I don't get presents very often, so I want to get something I really want. After lots of suggestions, I remembered about wanting a bird table, so I am going to ask for that as my pressie. I can't wait so I can't!!!!:DFather Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Good for you Rosie. What a nice thought, especially now winter is approaching and food supplies for the birds will be scarce. Just over the last week or two we have had far more birdie visitors to our feeding station than we have had all summer. I put up a new niger seed feeder yesterday in the hope of tempting more finches but they haven't spotted it yet!!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

naik a hanging basket chain to a sheet of ply, nail some batten to edge, hang from bracket or tree. Simples.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

My daughter loves watching the birds, so we recently bought this bird table:

It's well made and fitted together easily, and I'm pleased with it. I picked that one as we live on a hill and it gets really windy here. I put a brick in the planter base, and although it has been exceptionally windy over the last couple of days, it didn't blow over.
The light is really pathetic mindHere I go again on my own....0 -
That's a good idea, but unfortunately we have no trees anymore apart from 2 baby apple trees I planted this year. And I don't want to put one on the fence as the cat spends too much time up there!
I am going to take advantage of dh offer to actually spend real money on a present for me. I seem to spend all my time cobbling together and making do, so for once, I'm gonna enjoy actually buying something, for me!!!!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I've now moved most of my bird feeders to the vegetable patch for the winter, for the free fertiliser, as I noticed last year that the grass under the feeders was much greener than elsewhere on the lawn, and plants under feeders grew very big and sturdy too. I've just left four where I can see them from the window on a four branched hanger.
I've never used a bird table, for ground feeders (blackbird, robin, dunnock, chaffinch etc) I put food where they like it, on the ground amongst the plants. (Although both robin and dunnock have learned to use the sunflower/suet feeder). If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0 -
Birds are getting wise to the netted bags of nuts etc., they can catch their claws in it and rip them off. Transfer the nuts and seeds to a sturdy wire mesh holder (cheap in Asda over the winter) and they should arrive.
Yep. Aldi also have them in at the moment too if you don't have an Asda near you. Incudes one that they claim to be squirrel-proof.0 -
I bought a bird table last year from B and M. It's a put together yourself/DIY type but sturdy enough with a little roof . I think it cost less than £10 and I've seen similar for twice the price. I think I saw them in there a couple of weeks ago, but didn't check the price.0
