Barclays Current Account Plus

Hi all
I was considering opening a Barclays Current Account Plus for the mobile phone insurance, it seems to be reasonable value at £5 a month, plus you get a couple of other bits like extended warranty cover and card protection.
I've had a look through the policy documents and the mobile phone insurance seems OK, no ridiculous excesses or exclusions, I just wanted to ask those who already have the account about their experiences, especially those that have had to make a claim.
Any feedback appreciated

I have this account and seem to remember that in addition to the phone cover, I also have RAC cover.
Fortunately I have never had to make a claim with regard to the phone or had need of the RAC cover (and here's hoping I never will
).
The account itself is fine, although if you find yourself going over any agreed overdraft, then get ready for £22 (I think) charge for being overdrawn (although you can then stay this way for 5 days I believe).
Probably not much help but thought I would post as it might generate further info from people in the know, so to speak.

Hi I also have the barclays account +, And find it value for money at only £5 a month. I touch wood have never made a claim yet so quite lucky. All the over add ons like identity support and extended warrenty are a bonus! Also a little potential saver is if you are plannning to have a overdraft with barclays account + they offer an interest free overdraft of up to £300 pounds which is again another money saver rather than pay something small like £2.00 + a month for the overdraft interest charge. Overall a good account with a good bank i would recommend them!:beer:It takes two to tango!:rotfl:0

I don't actually have a Barclays Current Account Plus, but have been considering opening an account myself for sometime for exactly the same reason. £60 a year for mobile phone insurance alone seems like a good deal in itself. Add to this an interest free overdraft up to £300 and the extended warranty cover makes it better value for money.
I've not seen another packaged account on the market which comes close, except the RBS Royalties (or NatWest Advantage Blue) for £6.95 per month; or the Lloyds TSB Silver Account for £7.95 per month (£3 per month for the first two months).Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
I have this type of account. Anything over £25 that you purchase that is electrical (such as a laptop, radio, television, toaster) can be put on extended warranty at no cost. You just have to call them within a certain number of days after purchase (I think it's 30, but not sure - I always try to get it called in within 48hrs so I don't forget). Then there's the mobile phone insurance. And the card protection for any cards - mine covers both mine and DH's - including passports, drivers licenses, credit cards, bank cards, and such. I haven't had to make a claim yet though.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Because some people don't want a heap of crap as a phone?
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
