Essentials are
17" screen (or larger)
I5 (or higher) processor
4G minimum RAM
Budget is up to £900 for the right model.
Anyone know of anything good out there? He's seen a Dell he thinks will fit the bill, but I NEED "to MSE" a purchase this size before he decides. :money:
Thanks all.

I just had a look on ebuyer.com for you (always a good source for laptops at best prices) and there's only one that meets your requirements and budget -

The i5 is the expensive bit there. If you were able to accept a processor with e.g. about 2/3 of the performance, you would probably be looking more in the region of £500 I would think. Is that core essential? Is this a gaming laptop?0

Core essential for work that will be done on the laptop - agree it's the pricey part, hence MSEing the purchase!
OH probably wishing it would be a gaming laptop...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
