Good conveyancing solicitor in Richmond/Kingston/Teddington
I am looking for a good local conveyancing solicitor, based in Richmond/Kingston/Teddington, to purchase a leasehold flat in the area.
Key criteria is efficiency and communication, rather than just cost, as I am a FTB.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Seb

Google "Conveyancing Solicitor [Richmond or Kingston or Teddington]" - see what comes up and then phone the individual firms and ask for a quote - see what they tell you on the phone and get a feel for how helpful they will be. Or if you want go more specialist try "Flat Buying Solicitor..."
Does a secretary just give you some basic standard figures or does a conveyancer/solicitor explain some of the ins and outs and variables in costs that occur when buying a flat? ( I always ask if they know how long the lease is and (although they may not know this at the beginning) the identity of the landlord and/or managing agent. There are some of these that frankly are just best avoided altogether because they rip people off with lots of unreasonable charges.)
Get the quote in writing and check through what it says. Is it straightforward or is there lots of small print with extras hidden away inside it?RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
I would recommend TWM solicitors (based in Wimbledon and other offices in SW London)
I have used them twice and recommended them to people at work who have had positive experiences. For fairness I should add that I know one of the lawyers there (but am not connected to the company myself!)
They are not the cheapest but seem to provide a high level of service. Having nearly lost a property due solely to my lawyers incompetance years back, I am prepared to pay extra for this.
PGo round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0
