Hi, i am really lookng for some more advice re selling my car, posted a few weeks ago, and still not sold it. I have had it on ebay, and really brought my price down but it still hasnt met the reserve price i set. Its a chevrolet tacuma 2006 with only 33500 miles on it and mot until april 11. I have driven around with a sign in the car which has led to a couple of phone calls but i had the price on at 2600 at that time which i now know was too high, even though the price on the what car website was showing as 2800.00. I dont know what else to do apart from driving around in it with a for sale sign and no price, as that may attract more callers ? Thanks for any help or advice.

Just a quick look at the parkers guide price (I dont know the model so I picked the basic one) its value in good condition is £2645 and poor is £1810.
So if i was looking to buy a car and seen yours, unless it was in pristine condition i would probably only look to pay £2000 at the most, but that is only my opinion but it may help a little.0 -
thanks for the reply, i think i did set the price a bit too high but am hoping for a wee bit more than 2000, it is in very good condition, is it the parkers guide that dealers would look at ? just phoned a dealer there and they said they would phone me back with a price but they still havnt, can i assume that they are not interested in purchasing the car ? Thanks again.0

here's the link to the glass valuation. these are guides only and you're unlikely to get exactly that amount in practice

thank you so much, have been wanting a glass valuation but didnt want to pay the 3.50, the excellent price is 2510 and the average is 2260, are these the prices the dealers would look at ? Just so i can quote prices if they ask me what they think my car is worth, thanks again.0

Dealers will give you a poor price as they then have to shift your car on to someone else and make a profit on it. It's only worth trading it in in this way if you really can't be bothered with the hassle of selling a used car.
I've not seen the car, but maybe a really good clean and polish could help?0 -

i'm not sure what dealers will offer but i remember trying to sell a car glass valued at £3.5k and all I was offered was £3k at a number of dealers.0 -
Is there a trade price listed?0

Its not a very popular car and not many people know what it is. You could try putting in gumtree.0

Just be prepared to deal with Nigerian scammers if you do that. They're pretty obvious to spot though, look for terrible English, and wanting to concoct some excuse whereby they overpay you by cheque and then have you send them the overpayment back.
To be honest though, few people are going to actively seek out a 10 year old Daewoo Tacuma, and it's too high a price to reach the "any car so long as it runs and has an MOT" crowd.
Maybe you should sell it to the OP of this thread?0 -
Hi I would put it up for sale on the Autotrader - look up your cars make and model first on their website to make sure it is not over or under priced. It does not cost that much to sell it through them and the advert goes on their internet site straight away - I sold my car within a day and had loads of people ringing wanting to buy it.0
