International calls even cheaper using Tesco home phone / BT

Just observed two deals which may cut down costs to international destinations even further. As most members of this form already know, use of overide operators can save a fortune in international call costs. For many countries, it is now possible to make calls using access numbers starting with 0844200 (BT chargeband G22) which is charged by BT at connection fee + 0.5p per min.

However, it seems Tesco Home phone offers a great deal on these numbers. 0844200XXXX is charged by Tesco home phone at 6p connection fee + 0p/min. Yes, no typo. It means flat rate 6p per call!

Happy dialling!

People who have a BT package often get inclusive 0845XXXXXX calls. The following access number allows dialling to India mobiles and landlines during peak hours. Not sure whether it allows dialling to other countries too.

08451980198

For people on an unlimited BT package, this means inclusive calls to India. No connection fee and no charge!

http://www.qxcall.co.uk/index.php 0845 number only works to some intl destinations and then only at specific times of the day or week.
    EG: India Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM

You cant make inclusive calls to it from your BT Landline, because calls to indirect access numbers are not included in your inclusive 0845 minutes, and will be charged at going rate.

And, even if BT didn't spot the use of 08451980198 for international indirect access, those hours mean you'd have to be on BT's £4.99/month Unlimited Anytime Plan to be able to use it 'free'.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
