selling house with loft extension/rear extension which has no planning regulation
They also said that as it was so long ago the could not do anyt
Now it is my turn to sell the house. When I explained the situation to the estate agent he said that could be a problem.
My question is this can I get retrospective building regulation/planning permission for extension done in 1983. Also if the chimneys wer etaken out seven years ago - can i get retrospective permission for this. Who should i contact and whats ort of costs am i looking at.
Many thanks

I don't know about the building regs but there is no need to get retrospective planning permission for an extension done in 1983 - it is exempt from planning enforcement after 4 years and you are well out of that time frame. If you want a belt and braces approach you can apply for a lawful development certificate where you have to prove, on the balance of probability, that the extensions have been substantially complete for more than 4 years. This will be easy in your case as you could just do an affidavit to say that it has been there for more than 4 years. Additional information such as dated photos, estate agency details from when you bought etc would also help.0
