getting old rawlplugs out

Options
Hi,

There seems to be loads of holes in my walls with rawlplugs in. I've been able to hook some of them out to fill the holes, some others though just don't stick out enough to be able to rouk them out.

I want to get the wall flat for painting and there is just a bit of lip that I can't ger rid of. I've tried just filling them but the surface won't go flat enough when I rub it down.

Any ideas of how to deal with the little bliggers please?

I either use a long nose pliers or out a screw in a couple of turns and pull with pair of pliers always make good the hole

All else fairs cut protruding plastic bit with a sharp razor blade and smooth of with sandpaper

use a wood / metal drill bit on lowspeed (1) no hammer drill it out gentley, then fill hole.

Like the above. Drill down the centre & collapse it in on itself & pull it out then fill it.

    Easy
    Not Again

If there's a bit of a lip try using pincers.
You only need to grab holdof a small edge to be able pull them out.

Any mileage in pushing them further in, rather than tugging them out?

Drill out centre, as previously suggested.

Trim excess with new, sharp Stanley knife.

Whack them in below the surface (using something such as a nail punch) and fill over the top ..less likelihood of damaging surrounding plaster.

The red/brown cheapy one pull out easily, screw in a screw a turn or two and pull out. If its a fuss, i just just knock them in with the ball of a ball pein hammer, and fill. Takes a second per plug!
