Advice needed - 2 weeks wait for replacement washing machine?

Hi,
I bought a new Servis washing machine in March this year only for it to break down 5 months later, flooding our kitchen floor with half an inch of water...luckily it was under a 12 month guarantee, so I duly phoned to ask for it to be fixed/replaced pending engineers visit.
So 3 days later the engineer came along and diagnosed a hole in the drum, and went away to write up his report, all this time our washing pile is stacking up with 3 young kids to clothe and with our normal 4 loads a day out of the question we are doling washing out all over to be done.
So we phoned on Friday as advised by the Engineer and I am told it will be a 3 day wait until the report is actioned, so today I phoned them again and was told that it will be another 7 to 10 days before the part (i.e. new drum) can be delivered and then a date can be arranged for an engineer to replace said part.
To say I was unimpressed was an understatement, I nearly lost my rag and its not a nice occurance when that happens - I asked to speak to her supervisor/line manager and was told they are on holiday and they would only tell me the same thing anyway (yeah...right) , I asked if there was any way to claim back laundrette fees that I have had to pay (potentially) and was told that they dont offer any sort of reimbursement for this.
So rant nearly over, how do I go about getting something done sooner than 10 more days because we are struggling to cope with this inconvenience and frankly we should not have to deal with this stress (esp. after 6 weeks of kids at home
) and with school starting this Friday for our middle child and neighbourly favours stretched to their limit.
I would strongly advise everyone to stay away from Servis washing machines as they break after 5 months and their customer service is diabolical and slow to offer satisfaction.
Can anyone offer any help...please
P.S. machine was purchased from Argos March 2006 if that makes any odds.
Steve.

update:
After some research I phoned Argos and after quoting some trading standards legislation regarding items that become faulty within 6 months they agreed to replace our washing machine with a brand new one.
I am not really happy about having another Servis machine but beggars cant be choosers
, at least I havent got to speak to the snooty cow at Servis anymore - good result anyway.

Just to say well done!
I had a Servis washing machine and it went wrong after about 2/3 years.
It leaked and when i phoned servis for a new drum they wanted £125. I only paid £219 for the ting new.
Anyway hubby took the machine apart (he's quite handy) and it turned out that the drum hadnt been welded (sp) properly.
I complained to Servis that the machine was sub-standard, but all they replied with was that the machine was well out of warrenty and the was nothing they could do.
Would never by anything from SERVIS again.
