I am posting this as I have recently had a problem with online access my ASDA (Santander) credit card account and other users of the card who use Macs to access the online service may have had similar problems.
I only use my ASDA card for fuel for my small business so I usually only access it once a month. And I think these days you can only get statements online??
I quote below an message I sent to them on Friday June 18th (slightly edited for this posting):

Re Accessing Website, viewing and downloading statements using Mac OSX 10.6.3 with Safari 5 and/or Firefox 3.6.3.
I have recently upgraded to Safari 5 and it no longer allows access to my online credit card account. I realise that "officially" it is not supported. Prior to the upgrade from Safari 4 to Safari 5 I could access my account and view and download statements in PDF form.
What happens is that the sign in button does not work. I recall that this happened in earlier versions of Safari but the version I had before 5 worked in all respects.
I can access my account by Firefox (3.6.3) but there is a problem with viewing and downloading statements.
When clicking on e-statement it does not display the page but downloads the document:
eStatementPDF.jsp
The Browser does not respond to the .jsp aspect of the document in the way I would expect ie display the pdf statement in the browser.
After a little experimenting I tried my old trick of renaming the file to
eStatement.pdf
This allows the file to be opened.
Can someone explain what is happening. It is a similar to what I do with my zopa account when I wish to download a monthly statement for viewing in excel. It comes through as ZopaStatement April 2010.csv.xls. It will not display with the correct data in the correct format unless you remove the xls suffix.
Thus I feel sorry for those Mac users who are not used to tinkering with files and their extensions.
Incidentally before I solved the mystery I rang 3 times today and was told by the normal customer services person to ring 08701252517
The message you get when dialling is "Sorry this service is no longer available"
On my next call I was transferred to the internet support but a similar message was given with the instruction to dial extension 27489 but of course I couldn't. The third time I rang I was told by a human that all agents with technical knowledge were busy and that I would be called. No such call has been received. Has war begun?

Im just off the phone from asda finance after trying, safari/firefox/opera/chrome and early internet explorer 5.2 mac
None now work, the india operation could not solve it apart from send me a new password, I asked to be put through to the UK to tech support and they know that the only one that now will work is internet explorer (windows versions)
Not good for Mac users, ironic that my other credit cards by santandar and abbey/santandar work ok - the tech guy told me that its due to when asda finance were bought by santandar they did not put new systems in they use GE Capitals old systems.
Is anyone using a browser that works as of today?
The tech guy was annoying as he said the typical windows tech answer, well it works on my PC!!!!
For now have asked them to reinstate paper statements - what a backward step.
Have just downloaded firefox early version 3.6.6 and that doesn't seem to work either get as far as entering my account details and password then submit it then just a blank page
The address on the browser is:
https://www.santandercards.co.uk/eservice/affinity/secure?appFunc=submitSignIn
Have tried now as far back as ver 3.5 and the same issue0 -
I had a similar issue with RBS recently however their website now accepts the latest version of Safari.
The solution in the meantime is to enable the "Developer Menu" (if it hasn't been already) and select an older version of Safari.
This will allow other websites that haven't yet caught up with Safari5 to work.0 -
I'm also just getting a blank page when I try to login, has anyone been in touch with them?0
