How do I delete duplicate emails?

Can somebody help? I've got a Nokia E71 which downloads emails using Mail for Exchange. For some reason it has downloaded duplicate copies of the same email about 80 times and another email 40 times. These duplicate emails won't delete in the normal way and my mobile inbox is full. Other emails are removing themselves after 3 days as normal.
I've searched through the internet and other people have reported similar issues but I can't find out how to remove them.
If anyone knows the answer, let me know but please don't make your reply complicated!
