John Lewis Purchase - Haven't ordered anything!!

Got a email ( a very rarely used email address) on my phone from John Lewis this afternoon confirming a purchase off a guest list, apparently i'd spent £50. They quoted the last four digits of a card number which isn't one of mine.
Rang John Lewis, they couldn't tell me much as the address doesn't match what was given to them and they obviously have banking regulations about retaining card details. Rang my bank and they confirmed I don't have a card ending in the four digits given.
Just feel a little on edge now. The email address used was basically my name with a . in the middle of it.
Anyone else had anything similar?

Was it an online order and was it for delivery or collection from store?
What I expect has happened is that somebody has bought an item online while in one of the branches. When that's done, the customer usually tells the SA their email address.
I've found a lot of customers don't actually know their email address, so somebody with your name might have said "mr dot blah" rather than hyphen, or no punctuation at all.
you can buy from the website without having to login or create a password, so I think the above is the most likely situation and it's nothing to worry about. The worst thing is that the person won't have an email receipt, but if it's an item that's being delivered, they will get one in the box when the item arrives, too.0 -

I wouldn't worry someone has probably just put the wrong email in by mistake. I get emails intended for other people with the same name all the time I just ignore them.0 -
I fear your phone has been cloned. You should destroy it immediately, cancel all your cards and get every report you possibly can.
Then do not shop at any shop until you can confirm your ID has not been stolen. Personally of it happened to me, I would be hiding under the mattrass0
