Or you could partition your hd with W7 already on it and dual boot with xp http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/index.cfm?action=showthread&threadid=382450&forumid=1
In Windows it's a long way from having two partitions to dual booting two OS. As a start you need two primary partitions and a boot manager which can handle it...0 -

Just get another hard drive and use the BIOS to boot into it = rock solid - sorted !
You could have 4 operating systems on 4 different drives or whatever .. .. .. !
That would be a good solution so long as OP is using a desktop PC, although if they are on a lappy the drive is usually accessible from a cover at the side, (it is on mine) they could then slide in another drive and install XP on that, providing they buy it when they buy the spare HDD.
Otherwise as Ritchie says, another HDD and select using BIOS. on mine pressing F12 brings up a choice of drives to boot from so probably funds permitting best solution, without delving into partitioning, and bootloaders.
On mine HD 0 Ubuntu, HD 1 XP HD 2 Windows 7, using grub as the bootloader.0
