69 year old woman (and her husband) in receipt of the higher rate of Attendance Allowances) . Should they be getting free RFL? Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

  • Sorry, but what is an RFL?
  • How to claim an exemption from vehicle tax

To claim an exemption from vehicle tax you must be receiving at least one of the following:
    • higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance
    • War Pensioners Mobility Supplement

Attendance Allowance is only paid for a care need, not a mobility need

I have just applied for my inlaws blue badges, Taking them to the docs and shopping is a pain. I should have applied a long time back but never got around to it.

Took them away the other week & i always tried to park on the end bay to make it easier to put them in & out of the wheelchair.

Didnt stop stupid people parking outside the white lines & one van driver was so close to my mirror you couldnt measure it without a dial gauge.

Anyway i put my reg number down on the forms, Will i get a free tax disc? Didnt think i would as the car is not exclusively to be used for them.

    No you won't.

As had been pointed out above only people in receipt of the higher rate of DLA can claim it, and the vehicle must be used solely for that person.

I wasnt expecting it, Just curious when the OP asked their question, Made me wonder why they asked for the
    cars registration number.

Surely the blue badge can be used in any vehicle they are travelling in.

    Thanks.
