Would the council be liable?
Options
Yesterday, I locked up my bicycle at the local swimming pool bike rack. I went for a swim and when I came back out, my bike had been stolen
.
It was a expensive bike, so I was wondering if the council would be liable for any costs, as there was no signs saying I was parking at my own risk or anything.

You locked it, so you accepted that there was a risk of theft. The Council just provided you with somewhere secure to lock it to. I think you would be on a hiding to nothing.0

It was insured, wasn't it?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Of course the council is responsible for replacing your bike because there wasn't a warning sign.
They're also responsible for replacing your car if there wasn't a warning sign in the car park...
Your bike got stolen and you think it's someone else's responsibility because they didn't put up a warning sign. God where do you people come from?

Take them to court also add the police to the paperwork, Did they not stand over it for you?
Thought of moving to the USA?
Why did you not buy a better lock?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It was my bike, my responsibility. Im just annoyed that I can't leave something for a few hours without it being stolen.
I'm not one of those people who thinks everything is someone elses fault, on hindsight, it was MY fault for not using a better lock, or not parking it in a more visible area.0 -

But you knew you couldn't just leave it for a few hours without it being stolen.... That's why you locked it.0 -
I am guessing the thieves knew what they were after if it wasn't a cheap one. Can only suggest using something more akin to a motorcycle lock may help prevent such thefts. Might you have home contents insurance which could cover the bike in some way? Unfortunately I think bikes normally need to be declared though, certainly for thefts away from home.0
