My daughter attended a job fair at the local community centre last year, just after she finished sixth form. She had been looking for work but hadn't been successful. At the job fair were various agencies and she chatted to them, leaving her CV with some. A few weeks later, one agency rang and asked her to attend a training. She is now a homecare assistant with them. She earns a minimum of £6.45 an hour, rising to almost £8 an hour for some shifts (not bad for a 19 year old).

Has anyone on here attended a 'job fair'?. if so, what were your experiences?.
There is a job fair coming-up in my home town on Monday, and I might well go, especially if it opens-up oppotunities to return to work.
I have been on JSA since 11th of May, and most of the jobs in my local Jobcentre tend to be in ares in which I have no exp., and they pay nmw.

I went to a so called job fair in May. It was advertised to death and the JC were pushing it like mad. Im new in the area and got my OH father to take me, which was kind of him. The room was tiny and the only actual recruiter was the army. The rest were various recruitment agencies and training companies, one who helpfully offered to re write my CV for £250.00 plus VAT! oh and the JC showing their few day old vacancies. Total waste of time. I even complained to the company who organised it to no avail, Im not say yours will be like that, just my experience.

Our local job centre just told us that 5% of all vacancies come from job fairs. not sure I agree but if that is the case its worth the time.
