I was in my office today when the phone rang - it was a very bad line which didn't give me confidence from the off!
The woman asked if she could speak to whoever deals with the cost of phone calls. That would be me then.
Her: I have some very good news for you. I am phoning from lo-call telecom and we can save you money on your phone calls.
Me: Oh, really?
Her: Yes, we can save you money. Do you have a BT phone line?
Me: Yes
Her: Have you heard of capped rate phone calls?
Me: No, what does that mean?
Her: Well, if you are on the phone for longer than, say, 5 minutes then the metre stops running until you have been on for an hour.
Me: Oh, thats interesting.
Her: Who do you have your calls with at the moment?
Me: 18866
Her: Who?
Me: 18866
Her: Okay (she didn't seem to have heard of them?
Well, our calls start at 3p capped. How much do you pay for your calls?
Me: 1p per call. Not per minute, per call.
Her: Errr - is this a business line?
Me: Yes.
Her: Oh, err, ok. We will phone you back if we can beat that.
Do you reckon her blanket statement of 'we can save you money' means I can take her to court for false advertising

My experience with a salesman in Sainsbury's the other week was quite similar.
My first mention of 18866 resulted in him putting his hands up in surrender!30 years, 217 days!0
