Money taken from account 8 months later!

In October I used my debit card to pay for some goods when checking my bank statement today they have taken this amount now in June which is 8 months later . Are they allowed to do this? If someone could help I would appreciate it.

Yes they can, I'm sure people will be along shortly to have a go at you for not checking your bank statements and reconciling every possible transaction you make. :D

Yes, they're allowed to take money from your account for the goods that you bought.

    Madness isn't it?

Just had this happen with Tesco enterainment trying to take a payment for a film ordered Nov '09. I had numerous e-mail and telephone correspondence with Tesco in December trying to get the film sent to me but the status kept saying awaiting despatch. I tried to get them to cancel the order but they said they couldn't because it was being despatched and if I didn't want it I should return it. It never arrived and I gave up. Then last week they tried to take payment!
