DX is the Document Exchange system, used by solicitors and other organisations instead of the post0

Our vendors are using Arc Property Solicitors and the solicitors were meant to exchange on Friday, then yesterday and now today and we still have not heard. Everything is complete. It is driving me insane as our completion date is this Friday and nothing seems to be getting done. What can I do as the vendor has tried calling/emailing as well as the solicitor. It's like he has not done something that he is trying to hide. HELP!0

Agree completely with Sonastin. Unless they gave a specific time frame, wanting to move quickly could mean anything to them.
Four weeks isn't an especially long time and don't forget they are still waiting for you to have your survey done and many people wait to see the outcome of this before proceeding too far as its the first real sign of any commitment on the buyers part. Also its often where people pull out, have issues or try to renegotiate the price. I'd wait until you've had your survey results and are happy to proceed before pushing too much. You can then of course specify a time frame yourself - ie we want to exchange by X date or we will be pulling out.0 -
Strange to see this thread appear again!
Update: the draft contract was recieved a couple of days after I posted originally, along with a note to say they were unable to complete before the end of August (2 1/2 months after I posted here and well over three months since the offer was accepted). I suspect they knew I'd be unhappy with such a long time to completion given we'd all been talking about a quick move and waited until we'd shelled out on a survey so we'd be less likely to want to pull out (though I could be wrong).
After speaking to my solicitor I stipulated exchange by the end of July and completion at the end of Aug and that I would pull out if it looked at any point these dates weren't going to be met (my rental flat had been sold so we'd run a real risk of having nowhere to live).
Dates were met but not without some further stern words via solicitor and estate agent. We moved in last week!:beer:0 -
