Please help us reclaim bank charges

Does anybody know of a company that can help reclaim our bank charges ??:j

We are obviously a bit slow!! as have just found out that Cartel Finance Company went into administration in March.. their representative came to our property in Feb and promised to help reclaim our £6,000 bank charges that we have accrued over the last six years and also get our £2,500 barclay card wiped off as we took out before 1994, along with other Northern Rock mortgage charges etc.. We were really exited about going ahead with it and know that they actually took the inital stages of carrying out our claim as we got a letter from the bank advising that Cartel had received our info..

Luckely and supiciously we realised that Cartel hadnt charged us, which we thought was a wonderful mistake they had made and kept quiet but now we know why !! because they no longer exist!

Please please could someone give us a name of or recommend a company that would be able to take over our claim. We dont mind no win no fee or a lump some to start the case with. We would try to fight our case ourselves but think all the legal stuff is a bit out of our league!.. Any suggestions ???? :beer:

Definitely can't help you but probably the first time I have ever heard of the above named company getting any result from anyone. Good luck in your search,

You had a lucky escape with Cartel. However, you need to realise that the reason most of these claims companies are now failing or being shut down is because their claims are largely false and have very limited chance of success. i.e. the odds of getting a barclaycard written off are virtually nil. Bank charge reclaims are now mostly a no-go unless you meet the criteria for financial hardship. As for the mortgage, dream on.

So, why risk another ambulance chaser taking your money (as you are unlikely to get lucky twice).

Unfortunately bank charges are a struggle at the moment unless you can prove you are in financial hardship.

Credit cards on the other hand are not affected so why not try claiming those charges back yourself? I've just started claiming back for 3 cards and trust me am really not very well up on legal matters! There are some great guides on here and on the Consumer Action Group site that lead you through it step up step and the people on the forums tend to offer lots of help and advice if you have any problems with them. That way you're not having to pay out for someone else to do it and them taking a big cut out of what is basically your money.

Mortgage charges I'm not very well up on (though may be looking into them next!) but I believe people are starting to have more luck with getting them back so could also be worth looking into.
