in Credit cards
Last month I contacted Barclaycard to decrease my credit limit from £2750 to £2000. the following week they sent me a letter to say they were increasing my interest rates from 16.9% and 19.9% respectively for purchase and cash to 24.9% and 27.9%
I emailed them and said I was really unhappy and wondered whether it was to do with the fact that I had decreased my credit limit (I'm desperately trying to pay this off!).
They have just phoned me and said they can reduce the interest rate to 13.9% permanently :T
:T . I know they're probably just hoping that I'll now keep spending on it but I am totally planning to get rid of it altogether!
Just wanted to say that if you don't ask you don't get! Give it a try with your bank.

Thanks for your feedback, Snow Angel.
This is no coincidence, IMO. Perhaps cardholders who contemplate reducing their credit limits will think again, when they read this thread.
Congratulations on tackling Barclaycard. Some good has come out of all this, if it's made you even more determined to clear that balance!People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
