DELL Vostro 1400

Hi,
Im looking for advice from anybody who has had problems with Dell Laptops. Specificly faults relating to Nvidia Video cards.
I have a Vostro 1400 that was purchased on 20/4/08. I have found that it has been widely reported by Dell and Nvidia that a batch of Nvidia Video cards were faulty/poorly designed.
I have called Dell and spoke to numerous people in their offshore call centres 3 weeks ago including a manager and customer relations who just kept repeating that it is out of warranty.
I have emailed them twice and sent a recorded delivery letter and iv not had a response from them so far.
As far as I understand a warranty is in addition to consumer rights under the sale of goods act. They have clearly supplied faulty goods regardless of the date of purchase and are responsible for the cost of repair/replacement.
I would appreciate advice from anybody who has experienced this fault before or something similair when complaining to Dell. If Dell are simply ignoring me how can I resolve it.
Thanks
Chris

you havent said what the fault on your laptop is?0

Did you purchase direct from Dell?
You are correct in that a manufacturer's warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. Is the manufacturer's warranty still in force?0 -

I think it would be wise to establish if your model is indeed one affected by the faulty batch or not. Nvidia make lots of chipsets and video cards and it was only a select number that have an established problem.
If it isn't one such model, then since out of warranty, legally you'd need to show it was an inherent fault which would require you paying for a professional report.0
