On the other hand, will she (the planner) get kick backs for using certain suppliers who may not necessarily be the cheapest/best for you? Just playing devils advocat. I would do my research.

Also Spain have some amazing tropical flowers in the summer that we don't have here in the UK - it would be a shame to use artificial when these are available.

If she is decent then she should pass on the discounts she gets to you. I do that for my clients. Ask her, when you are there for your own holiday ask her to arrange meetings with various suppliers and get her to negotiate for you as they may not speak English.

I know Alicante well as I holiday there every year.

Hi girls, that site looks great! I really want to bring some Spanish wedding bits into my wedding, I dont see the point in going there to have a typical wedding I would do here. Are alfileres de novia just little pins? What do you mean about putting them into a chest?

I think that a lot of bits will only get sorted with my planner when I go over in August. I go there a lot as well, but still dont seem to know a lot about Alicante!

For my favours I already got 100 small organza bags for about 3 quid off ebay, and I was going to make some wine glass charms to put in them (hopefully also from ebay-seems like I could do them for about £7) The pins would make a nice addition for the ladies as well.

Kirkyrose, I am just popping out so will reply to your PM later on.

When you go to Alicante - look around the city centre and in the old town as they have some wonderful shops. Another place to go is Playa del Mar/Al Campo - this is a modern shopping centre containing loads of shops including C&A and Al Campo which is a massive shop selling everything from food to nice clothes, kitchen appliances etc. Down by the Marina there are some nice little shops selling jewellery etc.

Thanks Horace, we stay in Cabo Roig, near La Zenia-not sure if you know it? There is a bridal shop up at Paddys point which I might also look at for my dress. I cant wait to go over!

Not sure if I do know Cabo Roig Kazz - I stay at a friend's flat in a very Spanish part of town and don't know areas as such.

Does anyone actually have a clue what a Spanish wedding cake is? Is it just a cake slab?
I have got my menus through from the restaraunt, and my spanish wedding cake is listed as desert. This, I have absolutely no issue with as I wanted my cake served at the wedding anyway, but I have noooo clue what it is!

I am now waiting for 'my' wedding dress to come into the shop so I can see it in real life (brand new this season, so I have only seen pics online) to see if I still want that one. As an aside, does anyone know much about houseofbrides.com? As in, when they list their stock? I have seen the dress on glamarousbrides.co.uk so I have a price from there to aim for with the bridal shop, but wondered how far behind 'new stock' houseofbrides would be on their stock, if that makes sense!
